Artistic possibilities of interior furnishings with bentwood furniture made by Jacob & Josef Kohn. Chicago and New York (1907).

This is the title of a couple of advertisements of The Furniture Journal, vol. 26, 1907, edited in Chicago. The Kohn firm was distinguished from Thonet by its showrooms with complete furniture for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, etc. These were located specially in Vienna, but also in Paris, Budapest and Berlin, and also in the United States. Here we present a series of interiors with bentwood furniture some of which may be from the New York or Chicago showrooms, together with other illustrations that refer to other places. In particular, the first illustration belongs to the Vienna showroom and was already published in the prospectus referred to in another entry: https://muebledeviena.com/2024/01/26/el-showroom-moderno-de-jacob-josef-kohn-en-viena-a-principios-del-siglo-xx-burgring-3/ The next two illustrations -look at the decoration of the walls and the ceiling- are rooms from the 1901-1902 Winter Exhibition at the Museum of Art and Industry (now MAK) in Vienna. The furniture of the interiors of this Exhibition in Vienna was offered to the public in the catalogues, -for example the French one from 1904- although at high prices. Another illustration is of an unknown restaurant. Enjoy the artistic possibilities of modern bentwood furniture at that time. They are «artistic» at least because they are the product of the Vienna Artists designers like Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser or Gustav Siegel.
